Villa to be presented before the elections

Catalan sports weekly paper Gol claims that Barcelona and Valencia have reached a principal agreement on the transfer of Valencia forward David Villa (28) after a formal meeting between Barcelona chief executive Joan Oliver and Valencia representatives in Valencia last week.

Apart from the determination of the final transfer price, the deal between the two clubs would be complete. The rumoured fee would be around 30 million euros but Valencia would want to include some Barcelona players in the deal because cash money would go directly to the bank that has refinanced the club's debts.

Pressured by their creditors, among which Spanish bank Bancaja is the most important one, Valencia would be forced to sell players for between 40 and 60 million euros this summer and reduce the cost of the players' salaries from 90 to 60 millions.

The plan is reportedly that the deal could be closed soon after the end of the league season and that Villa would be presented as new player of Barcelona before the presidential elections in 13 June and before Villa, who was already a transfer target of Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola during the past two transfer summers, travels to South Africa for the World Cup.

  2. More importantly, is this what Pep wants?

  3. adapted the last paragraph which answers your question, IBES. they say villa has been a top target for guardiola since he was appointed as coach in 2008.

  4. Exciting on the surface but... Villa is 29, off-form and gets caught offside more than any other player in La Liga. Risky signing if you ask me.

  5. Thanks Pep. I just "was" will still be "is" in how Pep feels regarding targets. The only risk I see is whether he has ever recovered from that concussion.

  6. Yay! Now our forward line is complete! :D

    Ibrahimovic - Villa - Messi

    or

    Villa - Ibrahimovic - Messi

ps. Laporta also seems to be in talks with Fabregas, maybe he wants to capture them both before elections?

    Iniesta-Xavi-TOure/Serio-Messi
    Abidal-Puyol-Pique-Alves

it would be the ideal soulution to play both ibra and david villa as CF.

  10. Villa is the be best striker in the world but I doubt we can get him for 30m(it would be a sea)I want this to happen bec Villa is one of my favourite 3 players outside Barca(along with Cesc and Essien) but I cant see him playing in our new formation but maybe a left winger in 4-3-3 one but I dont want to see Messi on the right wing again.his best is at no 10 position.

  11. damn..im not gonna get fooled again..and not gonna get my hopes up..
last year i sent tons of emails to the barca website begging them to sign villa and not ibra or benzema..and every morning checked pep's old blog and it was all good news but in the end nothing materialised because of their dumb president.
even after ibra's signing i was still hoping that pep would sign villa as pep apparently told villa to wait..
but if this really comes true, i would be the happiest man..

  13. Anonymous:Villa is off form LOL
Barca96:I would be disappointed if we lost Villa again, last year he was very close to us but at the end we choose another player and then Pep said he talked to Villa(maybe he told him then that we will go for u next summer) so lets wait and see but for sure dont beleive these reports.

  15. Can you provide the link to Gol? And who should we give to Valencia in return? Bojan?

  17. I'd give one of Henry, Hleb or Cáceres along with the 30 million euros to Valencia. (Unfortunately this won't happen.)

  18. Villa would be an excellent and almost perfect addition to this great Barca side. Ibra and Villa as center forwards and Xavi, Iniesta and Messi pulling the strings, simply breathtaking! Bojan would learn a lot from villa,as both are very similar in style and both Messi and Villa would have chances after chances on goal, after Ibra would bring the ball down, and give it to Villa or Messi to finish. I hope we get Villa! Come on Laporta and Txixi you can do it!

  19. the price was 45 mil last time wasnt it? plus he signed a renewal dont know how many more years..he wont come cheap :(

    ReplyDelete
  20. he didnt sign a renewal so he should be cheaper now. a year older and a year less on contract.
bojan will benefit the most from this deal as he will learn from the best. bojan should not be traded for villa or ribery!
