Asked about the upcoming elections, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has told journalists that he still thinks Barcelona vice-presidents Alfons Godall and Jaume Ferrer should form one candidacy:"I hope the next president will be someone who continues with this model that makes us live the best moment in history. Jaume Ferrer has said he will run and Alfons Godall might also take part, I don't know.
In my opinion the two defend the same model and so it would be better that they join forces, which is still an option. The idea of both is to improve the current project, so I think it's possible to have one single candidacy that defends the current successful model. My role in the whole process will be to keep on governing the club and to organize exemplary elections."

Strangely I wrote a topic about this today on my blog. It would have been more powerfull if they agreed on one candidate from the beginning before announcing things in public. The feeling now is that they may unite only AGAINST Rosell, and not FOR a model they want to protect. And how will it be after they win the election? Another Laporta Vs Rosell story with different names A.K.A Alfons Godall and Jaume Ferrer? Orthe Godfather -Laporta- will keep an eye on his boys?
ReplyDeleteI think that uniting against Rosell isn't necesarily contradictory to uniting in favour of the current model, Ramzi. They share the same model and they both want another style of governing than Laporta's one, so they wouldn't have to betray their own ideas to unite.
ReplyDeleteIf they unite, they can perfectly sell this to the voters. Being Rosell around or not, the normal thing would anyway be to have one candidacy. Rosell could in fact "help" to make the logical thing happen.
The big issue is: is it still credible (towards the voters) to form one single candidacy after all what happened over the last months, starting with the spies and now reading and hearing all the statements? Not on a model level, but on a personal level.
